Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Recruitment Guide
Support bonds, Renown thresholds, gift strategies, and Paralogue unlocks
How Recruitment Works in Fortune’s Weave
Recruiting characters in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave requires balancing multiple systems simultaneously. Unlike simple recruitment in some Fire Emblem titles, Fortune’s Weave demands that you raise Support levels with specific characters, achieve sufficient global Renown through story progress, complete specific Paralogues, and sometimes fulfill additional requirements such as items or quest completion.
Understanding these requirements before starting a route saves hours of inefficient grinding. This guide covers the general recruitment mechanics and provides route-specific details for every recruitable character.
Core Recruitment Systems
Support Level
Support Level measures the bond between your chosen Hero and another character. The best methods for raising Support are:
- Giving gifts — Different characters prefer different items; pay attention to their preferences.
- Shared meals — Invite characters to eat; meals also advance calendar if needed.
- Stage shows — Once the theater unlocks, invite characters to performances.
Support levels are cumulative across your save file, not route-specific. This means if you raise Support with a character on Cai’s path, that Support level persists when you play Dietrich’s route. Support only increases and never decreases, even if you restart a chapter.
Support is labeled as 1S, 2S, or 3S in recruitment tables—meaning you need to reach that Support rank with the target character.
Renown Level
Renown is a global value that increases as you:
- Complete main missions
- Clear subquests
- Finish Paralogues
- Hold audiences with the Gods (when available)
Renown requirements vary by character and route. Some characters require Renown 3, while others need Renown 10. Higher Renown gates mean later recruitment in a playthrough.
Paralogue Completion
Some characters only become available after completing a specific Paralogue. For example, Diego requires completing Orchel’s Paralogue before recruitment becomes possible. This creates strategic interdependence—completing Paralogues early can unlock characters needed for later challenges.
Additional Requirements
Beyond Support, Renown, and Paralogue completion, some characters require:
- Specific items — Materials like Giant’s Meat, Paradise Fish, or Iron Swords
- Monetary payment — Characters like Dante require 8,000G
- Quest completion — Simple tasks given by the character or another NPC
- Coin flips — Some recruitments involve a random element
- Dialogue choices — Answer questions correctly to satisfy requirements

Strategic Recruitment Tips
- Prioritize Support globally — Since Support carries across routes, invest early on your first playthrough.
- Complete Paralogues before deadlines — Some recruitments lock behind Paralogue completion (see the Paralogues Guide).
- Grind Renown efficiently — Combine main missions with subquests to maximize Renown gains per calendar day.
- Track character appearance dates — Late-joining characters like Benditz and Inyoni appear mid-game; plan Support investments accordingly.
- Negotiate fees — Zarcone can be recruited for as little as 10G with proper negotiation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers grounded in what Nintendo has revealed so far.
What is the fastest way to raise Support Level?
Give gifts and share meals—the most direct methods. Support carries across routes, so invest early in your first playthrough.
Do Support levels persist across different Hero paths?
Yes. Support Level is global to your save file and carries over when you switch paths via Pale Raven's Perch.
Which characters require Paralogue completion before recruitment?
Diego requires Orchel's Paralogue; Peppe and Buccar require Bertrand's and Leda's Paralogues respectively; Sha Lan requires Anatolia's Paralogue. See the full Paralogues Guide.
When do late-joining characters like Benditz appear?
Benditz appears around 4/11; Inyoni around 7/10; Jasmine around 5/8; Alexandra around 5/29. Plan Support investments accordingly.
Can I recruit every character in one playthrough?
No. Some characters are route-specific (Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, Leda) and some Paralogues are only accessible on certain routes. Parallel play is required for full recruitment.
Where can I find specific item requirements like Paradise Fish?
Paradise Fish is most easily obtained at Lake Brontes in Saveilon. Glirmosa appears at Mount Orgus Trail and similar locations. Giant's Meat is found in Sand-Shadow Fort.
